Jaden Jacobo is a high school senior who is joining the Oregon Air National Guard as a Radio Frequency Communications Technician for the 125th Special Tactics Squadron which falls under the 142nd Fighter Wing.

Jaden is the son of ORANG recruiter Tech. Sgt. David Jacobo. On Wednesday, March 13, Tech. Sgt. Jacobo watched as his son took the oath of enlistment, the formative first steps towards future professional and educational opportunity.

Jaden, now an official member of the ORANG, is able to participate in drill weekends at Portland Air National Guard Base, accruing time in service, time in rank, and on-the-job training as he finishes his senior year.

Jaden says he decided to join the ORANG because he feels motivated by the challenges it holds for him and the opportunities for personal and professional growth those challenges are likely to present.

Tech. Sgt. Jacobo is proud to see his son following in his footsteps and is excited to see what Jaden will make of the experience. “I hope he exceeds any success I’ve had,” says Jacobo. “I know that he’s got so much more to give. I want him to define what success is for himself and be able to reach it.”
