The skies have no preference – Black American fighter pilots in the USAF

Col Fred V. Cherry flew combat with the F-84 Thunderjet in the Korean War and the F-105 Thunderchief in the Vietnam War. He was shot down in 1965 and endured brutal captivity until 1973, never allowing the enemy to use him for propaganda purposes despite great pressure and torture.
