WEBVTT 00:02.460 --> 00:04.820 For 2 weeks in April , roughly 140 00:04.820 --> 00:07.420 airmen from the 142 wing supported the 00:07.420 --> 00:09.198 United States Air Force Weapons 00:09.198 --> 00:11.699 instructor course , known as WIC at 00:11.699 --> 00:15.460 Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada . WIC 00:15.460 --> 00:17.627 is a 6 month course for future weapons 00:17.627 --> 00:19.889 officers and is attended by airmen from 00:19.889 --> 00:22.129 a variety of backgrounds , including 00:22.129 --> 00:25.049 pilots , intel officers , air battle 00:25.049 --> 00:27.610 managers , and more . We do this almost 00:27.610 --> 00:30.170 every year , so this is my 3rd time 00:30.170 --> 00:32.700 coming here for a WIC support . And uh 00:32.700 --> 00:34.880 every time I've been in a different 00:34.880 --> 00:36.880 role for the squadron , so my first 00:36.880 --> 00:38.936 time I was a wingman , second time I 00:38.936 --> 00:41.158 was a 2 shift flight lead , and now I'm 00:41.158 --> 00:43.102 here as a 4 shift flight lead , so 00:43.102 --> 00:42.959 getting more and more involved every 00:42.959 --> 00:44.880 time I come . Setting this year's 00:44.880 --> 00:46.880 support of apart from others is the 00:46.880 --> 00:48.936 fact that this is the first time the 00:48.936 --> 00:51.229 F-15 EX has been at Nellis to support 00:51.229 --> 00:53.639 the course . Most pilots haven't seen 00:53.639 --> 00:56.119 the EX yet or flown with it yet , um , 00:56.130 --> 00:58.330 so the curiosity is really around 00:58.330 --> 01:00.250 what's new about it and the 01:00.250 --> 01:02.729 capabilities that it's able to do . It 01:02.729 --> 01:04.785 is very similar to the strike Eagles 01:04.785 --> 01:07.290 and most of the pilots that are here at 01:07.290 --> 01:09.879 WI or instructing at WIC have probably 01:09.879 --> 01:12.046 seen it or read about the capabilities 01:12.046 --> 01:14.050 of it , but at the same time it's 01:14.050 --> 01:16.161 really nice to see a new jet and then 01:16.161 --> 01:18.383 learn about what it comes with and what 01:18.383 --> 01:20.494 we could do with it , uh , especially 01:20.494 --> 01:22.717 in the . Munitions airmen from the 1402 01:22.717 --> 01:24.772 wing embedded with their active duty 01:24.772 --> 01:26.883 counterparts at Nellis where they got 01:26.883 --> 01:29.106 exposure to munitions used on the F-15E 01:29.106 --> 01:30.828 strike Eagle for air to ground 01:30.828 --> 01:33.044 capabilities , a characteristic shared 01:33.044 --> 01:35.285 with the F-15EX , and one that may be 01:35.285 --> 01:37.720 utilized in the future . For 01:37.720 --> 01:39.831 maintenance , fuels , and munitions , 01:40.000 --> 01:42.000 especially drill status guardsmen , 01:42.040 --> 01:43.959 providing WIC support offers an 01:43.959 --> 01:46.126 opportunity to build and enhance skill 01:46.126 --> 01:48.919 sets from hands-on experience . For 01:48.919 --> 01:51.141 myself , this is my first time being an 01:51.141 --> 01:53.800 NCOIC , so it's a good experience for 01:53.800 --> 01:56.855 me . But the biggest thing is my 01:56.855 --> 01:59.135 youngest airman , I try to bring as 01:59.135 --> 02:01.205 many young people as possible to get 02:01.205 --> 02:02.983 them exposure to what they will 02:02.983 --> 02:04.927 probably see for the rest of their 02:04.927 --> 02:07.094 career and get them some more exposure 02:07.094 --> 02:09.455 to the EX and of course our DSG is 02:09.455 --> 02:11.511 getting them more involved as well . 02:12.869 --> 02:14.919 Reporting for the 1402 Wing , I'm 02:14.919 --> 02:16.580 Master Sergeant Steph Sawyer .
