In his first operational assignment with the F-15 Eagle, then-Captain Garry Dean served in the “Dirty Dozen,” the 12th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the 18th Tactical Fighter Wing, based at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. He is pictured here in the back row standing, second in from the right, with other Dirty Dozen pilots during the squadron’s 1984 deployment to Whenuapai Air Base in New Zealand for Exercise Triad 1984.
