Memorial Day
This Douglas A-26C-30-DT Invader, serial number 44-35213, was one of several examples of the type assigned to the Oregon Air National Guard (OreANG) in the late 1940's. It was similar to the OreANG A-26B-40-DL, serial number 41-39526, lost on April 9, 1948. The A-26 bombers (designated B-26 in June, 1948) were used by the OreANG in a utility role. For example, this A-26C, possibly pictured at Gowen Field, Idaho during OreANG summer training in 1950, towed aerial targets for the 142d Fighter Group’s P-51D Mustang fighter pilots to practice their aerial gunnery skills on.
