North American B-25 Mitchell
During the Oregon Maneuver and for a period of 1943, the 35th Photo Recon Squadron operated three early-model North American B-25 Mitchell medium bomber in the photo recon role. The B-25 came into use when the squadron was designated as a Reconnaissance Squadron (Bombardment) in April of 1943, though this was short-lived. By August, 1943, the unit was redesignated as a Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron and plans were made for conversion to the Lockheed F-5 Photo Lightning to take place in late 1943. Pictured here is a B-25A in flight, circa 1941. (U.S. Air Force Photo)
