We Remember Victory in Europe Day (VE-Day), 1945
The American Red Cross (ARC) had a field office deployed with the 371st Fighter Group that stayed with the group all the way from Normandy to Bavaria, enduring the same field conditions as group members did. Here two members of the ARC field office, Ms. Barbara Wright and Ms. Nancy Orr, stand outside the Aero Club, a recreational retreat for the 371st team. The facility and offerings varied with the resources available at each of the locations the group moved to during its nomadic existence in Northwestern Europe. Of note, Nancy Orr married 371st group member Capt. Rudolph L. Talbot in 1945 and they went on postwar to found the successful Talbots women's clothing store chain.
