Portland Air National Guard Base activates new alert facility
A row of F-102 Delta Daggers assigned to the 337th Fighter Group stand ready at the Portland Air Force Base, Ore., as a commercial aircraft taxis along a shared runway at the Portland International Airport. The photograph was taken in the early 1960’s when the 337th shared the alert mission with the 142nd Fighter Group prior to the official transfer of the aircraft and full time alert mission to the 142nd on April 1, 1966.
