First Lieutenant Mark A. Baker served as a Weapons System Officer in the F-4C Phantom II with the 123rd Fighter-Interceptor Squadron of the Oregon Air National Guard in the 1980s. He was fatally injured in the loss of his aircraft on 3 January 1989 over the Pacific Ocean off of Tillamook, Oregon. (142nd Fighter Wing history archives)
