Redhawks at the Victory and the Journey Home
Lockheed F-5E with the Redhawk emblem on the nose at rest in China. The aircraft has 32 completed photo mission symbols painted on it and a mountain symbol for the flight over the Himalayas, the “Hump,” from India into China in September 1944. Aircraft 810 was converted from P-38J-15-LO 43-28610 to became an F-5E-2-LO. The squadron used a three-digit number in the 801 to 825 range for quick identification of its aircraft.
