First Lieutenant Franklin McKinney was an F-5E pilot assigned to the 35th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron (today’s 123rd Fighter Squadron). He went missing on a mission on November 5, 1944. In recent years, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) has made active efforts to investigate his possible crash site in northern Thailand. (Courtesy Maj. Daniel Jackson, USAF)
