The Oregon Air National Guard’s First Outstanding Unit Award
Col Leon W. Gray (left), Portland Air Defense Sector (POADS) Commander, presented the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award to Lt Col Robert L. Stacklie (right), 123rd Fighter-Interceptor Squadron Commander, during the squadron’s December, 1962 Unit Training Assembly. Both men were distinguished combat veterans from the European theater during World War II. In addition, Stacklie flew combat during the Korean War. (142nd Wing History Archive)
