Fifty Years On: Remembering the 1973 Paris Peace Accords
The banner headline of the January 25, 1973 edition of Stars and Stripes carried news of the cease-fire agreed to in the Paris Peace Accords. The headline at lower left is somewhat ironic and poignant, reflecting news of the death of former President Lyndon B. Johnson, who committed major US forces to the war in 1965, at the time that US role was ending. (University of Virginia (UVA) VA Miller Center)
