Oregon’s Vietnam Air Warriors – The 142nd Fighter Group’s F-4C Phantom II Fighters with Aerial Victories

McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II serial number 63-7704 served in the 114th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron (OreANG) from Dec 1985 to 2 Mar 1987. It was one of two 366th TFW jets to achieve the first USAF F-4 aerial victories of the war using the SUU-16 gun pod on May 14, 1967; use of the SUU-16 led to the 366th TFW being nicknamed the “Gunfighters.” (142nd Wing History Archive, via Rick Williams)
