The skies have no preference – Black American fighter pilots in the USAF
Eugene J. Bullard is regarded as the first Black American fighter pilot and saw combat with the French Air Service in World War I, one of 200 Americans who flew for France in World War I. Sadly, he was not allowed to join the American Expeditionary Forces after the US entered the war. (U.S. Air Force)
