First Campaign: The 371st Fighter Group in the Air Offensive, Europe
The rough mission of the 416th Bomb Group (Light) on May 27, 1944 against the railroad marshaling yard at Amiens, France was escorted by fighter pilots of the 371st Fighter Group, who witnessed the event captured in this picture as watched an A-20 fall to enemy fire over the target. At center of the picture with right engine burning is A-20G-35 S/N 43-10203, code 5H-R flown by pilot 1st Lt. Lucian J Siracusa of the 668th Bomb Sq. (L), 416th Bomb Gp. (L) from the lead section of the first combat box. At bottom with right engine burning is A-20G-35 S/N 43-10206 code 2A-F, flown by 1st Lt. Allen W Gullion, Jr. of the 669th Bomb Sq.
