Fightin’ Bull in the Indochina Shop: The Southeast Asia Service of Lars Granath
Fightin’ Bull aircrew Paul K. (PK) Robinson and Don Logan (at right) are seen here at a 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron reunion at Sheppard AFB, TX in 2010. He was flying F-4E 67-0277 on a MiGCAP in Bull Flight in the vicinity of Kep Airfield, North Vietnam on July 1, 1972. As his flight headed east toward the ocean, the enemy fired a barrage of SAMs and one of them exploded near PK’s aircraft. He and his backseater, Capt Kevin Cheney successfully ejected from the stricken jet, and were heard by other flight members talking by radio on the way down to captivity with Maj Robinson joking with Capt Cheney to meet him at base operations down at Kep Airfield. They were captured and spent nine months as POWs before release in 1973. (Courtesy of Col Lars Granath)
