PORTLAND, Oregon – The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing hosted an honorary commander’s induction ceremony, November 2, at the Portland Air National Guard Base.

The honorary commander program is a tradition in the Air National Guard that pairs local community partners to units and Airmen from the Portland Air National Guard Base. The incoming honorary commander will serve a two-year term in which they have the opportunity to look inside the gates of the Portland Air National Guard Base, gain insight into the 142nd Fighter Wing mission, and share the Air Guard story with their peers and community. Each of the honorary commanders were selected for this program due to their leadership in both their professional and personal lives.

During the ceremony, each of the four new honorary commanders will swear an oath as part of their induction. The new honorary commanders are as follows:

- Mrs. Sally Showman, President of Heartprint Productions

- Ms. Sarah Garrison, President and CEO of Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition

- Mr. Craig Sabina, Principle Consultant for McDermott and Bull Executive Search Firm

- Mr. George Knobloch, Vice President Maintenance and Engineering for Horizon Air
