F-15 Eagles from the 142nd Wing, Portland, Oregon and F-16 Vipers from the Royal Thai Air Force fly in formation over Korat Air Base Royal Kingdom of Thailand during Enduring Partners 2023, Sept. 20, 2023. The two-week engagement served as an opportunity to gain valuable training through combined dissimilar air combat training, air-to-air refueling and ground-controlled interception for the Washington and Oregon Air National Guard and the Royal Thai Air Force. Wings Clipped: A Redhawk Captured in Korea

Armorers load 5-inch High Velocity Aerial Rockets (HVAR) on a North American F-51D Mustang of the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron during the early part of the Korean War. The USAF expended many Mustangs during the intense fighting of the Korean War, and neither of these two aircraft survived. The nearest machine, 44-74488 crashed in Korea on July 7, 1951. The F-51D in the background, 44-74597, was shot down near Pyongyang, north Korea on August 14, 1951 – the pilot was killed. In the distance are F-51 Mustangs of No. 2 Squadron, South African Air Force, distinguished by the roundel with a leaping Springbok animal in the center, the national insignia used between a 1947 and 1957. Wings Clipped: A Redhawk Captured in Korea

Major Murrit H. Davis, Commander of the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron in “Sexy Sally II” and another F-51 of the 18th Fighter-Bomber Wing (probably piloted by Captain Alphonzo T. Wagner), make a successful low-level napalm run over P’yongyang, north Korea on the morning of 14 August 1951. In this famous photograph from the Korean War, two napalm fire bombs head towards their targets just a split second after being released from shackles beneath Sexy Sally’s wing. Maj Murrit was killed in action that day flying F-51D 44-74035 while searching for two other pilots shot down on the Pyongyang mission. His remains have not been recovered.
